MacBook air extremely difficult to boot

This issue started when I opened the bottom cover of my system for the first time to do some cleaning on the fan. Initially, it all worked fine after the cleaning process until a week later, when I realized that sometimes I need to press the start button several times to boot it up.

Then, about a month later, I suddenly cant boot the system at all. When I opened the cover again, I noticed that when I press the start button, the fan sometimes spins momentarily and thats it. I tried bunch of random things that I can find online to boot it up and keep pressing the start button repeatedly. Somehow, it worked and booted just fine. But, when I shut it down, I can't boot again normally the next day.

The thing is, I don't know exactly what caused it to boot again, so I had to try doing a bunch of random things over and over again until it boot. Any help?

Answer this question I have this problem too

I have a macbook air too, (early 2014 I think?) and when repairing it I often forget to plug in the battery cable before closing it. Another thing is after the battery is disconnected and reconnected I typically have to press the power button several times and the fan will start and stop. but after I push it a few times it will start up like normal. also what things did you find online? that may have been a temporary unreliable fix. could you post a link?

things that I have tried are the SMC reset, holding power button for 10 sec and plug in the charger, and booting it with disconneced battery with the charger plugged in.

Did you remember to reconnect the battery?

absolutely.sometimes the fan doesnt move at all so I pushed it a little to make it spin, and it spin briefly.if there is luck, then the fan will spin continuously, which means it finally boot up.

Hmmmm... how about this, did you do anything to it during the week it worked? or maybe did you do anything during that month that you had to try several times? what happened when you push the power button during the month you had to push multiple times? Any overheating since you cleaned the fan? and also why did you clean the fan? was it overheating? performance drop? (sorry about the huge amount of questions.)

I did clean the fan because the drop in performance, and the cleaning did help reducing the throttle.sometimes it can boot up normally.sometimes it just need a little nudge to the fan to kickstart it.but mostly I just left it running for several days
