Replaced battery but now my touch screen is acting up

Hey Guys,

Soooo I replaced the battery of my iPhone 5S.

That is a big game changer (batterywise).

But the only problem is now that my touch screen is acting up. Is displaying correctly and it mainly works but not it doesn't respond sometimes. It just seem to ignore my touch. Sometimes i have to try a few times to close an application by swiping it. It doesn't do anything other times.

The digitizer was sorta loose on the topright corner when I reassembled.

But a little nudge and I thought that was okay again.

Do I need a new screen entirely?

I'm pretty sure everything was reconnected properly when I reassembled.

Is there another explanation? Rebooting didn't fix anything.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Since you have removed the screen you might have damaged the digitiser flex cable or possibly you might have a lose cable. Take screen off and check no cables are lose and firmly in place. If problem continues then you have damaged the digitiser flex. New screen will be needed to solve problem.

When you changed the battery did you take off the screen?

check to see that all the cables are connected properly. I sometimes have problems linked to the cables not being connected properly.

If you did not take off the screen you might have pulled one or multiple of the cables, which then means you probably have to change the screen as well if I'm not mistaken.

I did indeed take of the screen. As per ifixit instructions. Could a impartial loose cable explain a screen working in image but only 60% of the time the touch tech side of it?

Anyway I'll reopen it but i'm pretty convinced that all kabels were connected properly though. I'll try that to be sure.

Hey Guys,

So a little update. I opened it back up.

Still two tiny issues. When you have to reattach that metal plate holding the wires in place of the screen I could only screw 3 out of 4 screws back in place. The topright one it doesn't screw in. It seems like that thing where the screws should go isn't there anymore?

Also the first two screws. The ones next to the jack. Only one really screws back in nicely. The other is ± 1 mm sticking out.

That being said it's all back together AND i do believe its working better.

Maybe it was a loose cable maybe. Here's hoping it stays better. But thank you for encouraging me to open it back up!!

I bought a spare screen anyway. Just to be on the safe side.

Thnx again!!

The screws are all different lengths, so make sure they go back in there exact spot otherwise you might damage something.
