Upgrade my phone software

Hi, my Moto G3 is now becoming very slow. Apps such as FB and messenger barely work and crash all the time. I assume this is because my phone is now out of date and the simplest thing to do would be to buy another phone. However, is it possible to upgrade my Moto G3 so it is fast (like it used to be) with all the apps functioning as they should so I don't have to buy another phone? If so, how would I do this? Cheers!

Hi, there is no way to upgrade the hardware in your phone to make it faster.

Moto G3 is very close to stock Google Android as you can get (it was owned by Google at one point), so there should be no factory installed software slowing it down.

However, you can wipe cache in your phone and maybe that will make it faster.

With the phone powered off, press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power button at the same time until the device turns on.

Press the Volume Down key to highlight Recovery mode.

Press the Power key to restart into Recovery mode.

The screen will display an Android robot with a red exclamation mark.

While holding down the Power key, press and release the Volume Up key, then release Power.

Use the volume keys to scroll to Wipe Cache and press the Power key to select it.

Scroll down to Yes - erase cache and press the Power key to select it.

Thanks, if I do this, will I lose any pictures, files, apps etc. Currently on my phone?

No, "Cache" does not wipe your data. "Wipe Data/Factory Reset" WILL wipe your data.
