How to change the charging port of Mi5?

My Mi5 have the red light of death problem. It wont charge, asked a technician from a local phone shop, he said the charging port is faulty and need a replacement. My questions are:-

i) How to diagnose which part is faulty? I googled and tried to wipe cache partition but it didnt work

ii) How to replace the faulty part i.e the usb type c charging port?

I don't know if it will help but I had some issue with some cable/charger. Maybe you could try with several ones

i have a Mi5 and had a similar problem(only charged about 15% to 30% in about 8h), changed the cable and now works just fine.
