Top case model compatibility

Does anyone know what exactly the differences between the 2010(/11) and 2013(/14/15) top cases are? I'm trying to find out if I could replace the top case of a 2015 Macbook Air with one from a 2011 model (for keyboard replacement).

Any ideas?

Apple moves things around as well as upgrades some of the components which makes it difficult to do assembly swaps like what you are looking at here. So in this case the upper case is different between the older series (2010/11) and the newer series (2013/14/15) and the 2012 model is still different again.

You talk about needing a new keyboard whats up with it? Maybe we offer a solution thats cheaper.

Thanks, but I'm kind of looking for the actual differences, to see judge if it's possible to work around them. Are there differences in the aluminium cut? The only actually difference I've found until now is the split mic holes.

Yes, the keyboard – the UK/US keyboards are not interchangeable (return key), so the only way to swap is to exchange the top plate.

So you want to take your ISO (UK) based system and make it US based keyboard-wise?

No, the other way.
