No power to my iMac G5

Plugged in system into a 3 prong adapter and heard a lot pop and saw a spark. Circuit breaker also popped. Tried to plug system into a transformer a few weeks later and nothing came on. Suspect that my power supply got fried.

Well i guess you're right. Sounds like a toasted power supply. Just hope that it did'nt fry any other vital parts of the machine.

Remove the back cover: iMac G5 20" Model A1076 Rear Panel Replacement

examine the capacitors on the logic board for swelling and/or corrosion.

See if your serial number falls within these ranges

Serial Number ranges:

W8435xxxxxx – W8522xxxxxx

QP435xxxxxx – QP522xxxxxx

CK435xxxxxx – CK522xxxxxx

YD435xxxxxx – YD522xxxxxx
