Change home button or not?

I recently bought an iPhone 5s with a damaged screen. I've changed the screen which is fine but after charging and turning on the phone the home button and finger Id recognition is not working at all. I'm assuming it was broken before I got it up and running as when it boots up the touch screen home button is available, which is useful. Should I change the home button and Id sensor or should I try something else first? What would you recommend?

Cheers,

Scentless.

You can change the Home Button but it will not allow you to have Touch ID functionality. Only the original Home Button will allow this. You could take the phone to Apple and have them replace the screen, they will change the button and pair it to your logic board which will allow touch ID.
