Lightning Connector Only Works One Way

I have this issue now.

seem like the issue already solved here : iPhone 5 only charging on one side?

but not for me.

i've done all the step that i know off by goggling and forum, but no success.

Soft/Hard Reset, Restore, Plug to PowerBank, PC USB Port, Power Adaptor still no success. i even replace the charging port!

BUT..finally, when i plug it to MacBook USB Port , Both way of the lightning cable WORKS!

even the cheap lightning cable still works!

WTH!...

What is the issue.?

You've tried cleaning the charging connector on the logic board as well, right?

I have a 5s that only charges when the cable is at a certain angle. This is encouraging me to try and fix mine too, haha.

i replaced with new charging port. Is it not clean enough?..hihi...I just need to clarify.. if it the hardware or software issue.

So the cable is working fine.

Why is it when connected to Apple product(in my case Macbook) the device is charging both way. But not by other power supply output as i mention above which only work on one side only.

It looks like you have already exhausted all the troubleshooting and DIY replacement options.

The next step is to get the charging IC chip replaced. An issue like this is usually caused by a bad charging IC. Usually you can find people (maybe locally) that does micro-soldering on iPhones to replace the charging IC.

It's up to you if you think it's worth fixing or not as this repair can be costly.

Thanks for the answer Ben..Although it hard for me to hear it...

Changing the IC part is beyond my DIY skill.

Looks like i have to manage it for the time . As long it can be charged and connected to my iTunes, that's enough for me.

BTW,still 50-50 whether IOS 11 will solve the issue or not. Im still at IOS10.

Read about it, IOS 11 still have a lot of bugs.
