Volume gets stuck turning up on its own and when volume button tapped

I just bought a used iPhone 6s Plus. If you press the up volume, it turns the volume all the way up, even if you just tapped it and will only stop turning up the volume once rebooted (so the little volume widget on the phone screen stays there indefinitely). The volume buttons push and click fine and do not appear "stuck", so it seems like something internal. I would just stop using the buttons, but sometimes I think the case causes it to press and I get the same issue. Do I need to replace the volume flex cable thingie or the buttons themselves? or both? Thanks.

The only weird thing we've noticed since the repair is that occasionally the volume scale widget shows and then disappears. Even though no one is pushing any buttons. Still way better than rebooting it every time it happens though. Thank you!

Not sure why @benjamen50 didn't make his comment an answer...he does that sometimes :>)

Yes, you probably have a bad volume button flex. You can repair this yourself but you have to be careful as you will need to remove a lot of stuff to get the job done. Take a look at this guide to see if your up to it and then order the parts you need.

Probably just the volume buttons worn out, so replacing the volume button cable assembly should do the trick.
