iPhone 6 Plus does not charge or turn on

I put my iPhone 6 Plus for charging before sleep and in the morning saw that the phone was dead. It did not boot up at all. Tried different chargers and cables, but still didn't charge or show the Apple logo or turn on.

I used a USB microscope to check the charging port and the following is what I saw. One of the contact points seems to be broken. Could this be the reason why the phone is not charging? If so, what are my next steps?

The power pin inside the Lightning receptacle (or dock) is pin 5. The broken pin in your image is pin 2 so it wouldn't necessarily affect charging of your phone.

That said, one damaged pin may be indicative of further damage to your Lightning Port. You could replace the port to see if that solves your problem.

Looking at your pictures again, pin 5 does look a bit black. What kind of charging brick do you use? Is it a genuine Apple charger or do you use a low-cost imitation (or worse, a car charger)?

No, I have always used the cable and charger that came with the box. I am guessing that something went inside the charging receptacle and when I inserted the lightning port, it pressed the thing against the pin and damaged it.

That could definitely cause the phone not to charge or turn on, first step would be to try another charge port. They are cheap to buy online and you can easily try it before going through the whole replacement process by just unplugging the old charge port from the logic board and plugging in another one and let it hang outside the phone.

Here is the guide to take apart the phone.
