How to replace keyboard

Hi,

Is it possible to replace the keyboard from my macbook pro from qwerty to azerty?

And does anyone know if I can use the keyboard from my older A1278 (macbook unibody 13" late 2008) or do I have to buy a new one?

Thanks in advance!

You don't need to replace the keyboard, only carefully lift the key caps and then re-align them to the altered pattern.

Here is a vid on doing this: How to remove and clean Macbook Pro keyboard keys that is if you want a permanent setup. Or, use a cover like this one: French (AZERTY) Keyboard Cover which is what we do.

Now the fun part! You'll need to find the needed keyboard layout driver for the other keyboard pattern or create your own. Here is how you can get to the Apple supplied layout drivers: How to change the keyboard language in OS X

Your Keyboard Cover link is broken, might wanna verify it’s the correct link. :-)

@tronke - Keep in mind this post was over 2 years ago! I don't control their web site. Here's the current listing: https://kbcovers.com/french-azerty-keybo...
