iMac 27 GPU replacement...?

Hi

The iMac 27 has a dedicated mobile PCI-E graphics adapter. In the Teardown it says:

"(It's obvious that Apple's engineers didn't design that daughterboard. It's a standard card used in a number of products.)"

So is it possible to replace the video adapter with an other PCI express video Adapter from ebay that has more power? e.g the nvidia MGTX 285?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Theoretically yes, but it will probably void any warranty you have, and there is no guarantee it will work. But if you have one I'd say try it and report back. Although they use a different connector than the PCIe, I can't quite remember what is was called at the moment.
