WTW4850BW0 loses power during spin cycle

I recommend that you verify a pump out by pulling the drain hose out of the standpipe and let it drain into a bucket. You should see a full circle of water. If you see proper water flow, this will indicate a possible house drain problem as the cause of your drain/spin issue.

If you do not see proper drain water flow, you have a drain or pump problem internal to the washer. You mentioned a filter, the one under the spin basket is the only lint filter that the washer has. It could have an obstruction under the spin basket blocking the drain port. Lay the drain hose into a bucket it should gravity drain out fairly fast if the tub is full of water. If it drains slow or trickles out that would indicate a restriction in the drain hoses or pump. I have seen a 25 cent piece get pushed thru the pump and get stuck in the corrugated drain hose and cause an intermittent blockage, it can flip and restrict water flow. If the drain port in the bottom of the tub, tub hose, and drain hose is perfectly clear then it will indicate that you have a bad drain pump. The drain pump impeller could be slipping internally in the pump or it could be bound up or damaged.

The washer is not designed to spin with a full tub of water. It should first drain all the water out without spinning. It is a normal operation for the washer to pause after it is finished agitating. Then the washer starts the drain cycle without any spinning. After the drain period, the motor will pause again. Next the control will restart the motor and it begins the spin mode. During spin, it will continue pumping out any water left in the clothes.

Note: If you interrupt the motor while its draining the water out by raising the lid, and then you shut the lid it will shift into spin while it still has water in it.

You can try this test. Start a spin only after you drained all the water out by lowering the drain hose and siphoning the water into a bucket or floor drain. If the motor continues without overheating and shutting off that would eliminate any electrical, motor, or friction issues.

These steps should help you determine the cause of your drain/spin problem. If not, you will need a service technician to diagnose and repair your washer
