iMac 21.5" 2013 VESA issue

I have an iMac 21.5" 2013 model with a VESA wall mount on it from Apple. I would like to replace it with the Apple stand. Is their an adapter to attach to the VESA plate on the rear of the monitor then connect to the stand? I can't find anything online. I would like to use the Apple stand because I already ordered it before knowing that it couldn't be replaced with the wall mount.

Oh Boy! No simple answer here. Sorry ;-{

When you buy a VESA mount iMac Apple uses a different mount plate on the inside of the system. So you would need to fully disassemble the system to gain access to it. Luckily, it is a replaceable part!

First here is what you'll need: Hinge Plate & screws (used) - Apple P/N 923-00046

Now the fun part! Here is the IFIXIT guide you'll need to follow to get to the inside side of the stand: iMac Intel 21.5" EMC 2544 Logic Board Replacement You'll need to go all the way to Step60! This is a lot of work! Make sure you use the correct tools and follow the IFIXIT guide to the letter in taking the display off as it doesn't take much to damage it which would be an expensive Opps!

Frankly, I don't think it's worth it!

I would just sell the stand part you have on eBay and just find a nice VESA mount desk stand and call it a day. Yes, the Apple stand looks nicer but there is a point when the costs and risks are to great.
