Black screen, External OK

I recently replaced the LCD on my MBP 15 Model A1226. I followed your directions I thought pretty well, had no problems with the installation. When I power it up, i initially get a white screen, then it goes black. I connected an external monitor to make sure the computer itself is ok. Everything else works normal. Any thoughts? I went back in and checked for any lose cables, but still having the same problem. Any help would be useful.

Options

Shine a flashlight on the screen at an angle and see if you can see the desktop. If so, replace the inverter. Di9d you get the screen from a reputable dealer?
