Battery does not want to accept a charge

I can jump start other tablet batteries with a 3.7v charging board. My ipad 1 does not power up no matter what buttons I hold down for how long, so I am trying to charge it. Neither side will accept the charge, as the light on the charging board does not come on. A multimeter show a little life in both sides, so I believe I have the polarity correct, but maybe not. Any ideas? Thanks.

At this point the iPad Original is over 5 years old. The most likely scenario is that the battery is essentially dead. that would be the first thing to replace. It could be logic board related but the battery is always the first thing to try.

You can find a battery here and the repair guide here.

Wether or not such an old iPad is worth fixing is up to you to determine.
