My battery life indicator does not work

The button for my battery life indicator doesn't seem to work. When I plug in and unplug it, the lights go on, so I know they're OK. I think the button is just stuck or misaligned. Is there any way to fix this?

I have my battery health in my menu bar, I'd just like to know the battery life with the MacBook closed. I don't think any software can fix that unfortunately.

Check the battery out to see if it's functioning correctly or needs to be replaced.

I can feel the button on the side of the case, it feels like it's wedged in. Is there a way to access the other side of the button by opening the case?
