iPhone 5 battery replacement problems

Hi,

I recently tried to replace my iPhone 5 battery, when I was putting it back too gather putting in the screws that hold the battery connection in place I accidentally used a longer screw in the third hole for the plates that hold the battery connection in place and it popped the screw connection lose from the motherboard. I thought it would work ok as the two screws that hold the plate over the battery connection to the motherboard was fine and fixed in place. So I put the screen back on powered up the phone and it was working,

I tried to charge it but no good it will not recognise the cable will not show a battery charge icon and will not show up in I tunes.

The phone is now dead, no power but was ok until the battery ran flat.

Any ideas on what I can do, I'm thinking it will need a new motherboard as the connection lifted off the plastic..

I wonder whether the wrong screw length may not have been the actual problem (though you certainly can do damage that way). It could be a bad battery if you got it from somewhere cheap. Have you tried putting the old one back (assuming it wasn't totally and completely dead)? Or it could be that you lifted the battery socket off the board in trying to lift the plug. With a steady hand, a fine tipped soldering iron and extreme care you might be able to solder it back, I did it once on an iPhone 4. But if iTunes doesn't see it, that's not a good sign. Did iTunes see it before the new battery ran down? It might just be that without a functioning battery it won't boot, and if it's not booted then it obviously won't be able to talk to iTunes!

No I actually got an iPhone 5c battery by mistake it would not fit. So I put gsck in the old one and connected it again but damaged the connection I was talking about.

It was fine before this but the battery had swelled pushing out the screen. But was working fine. I stock a needle in the battery to get the air out and got the screen to fit.

Might get some one to solder the connection back to the board to see if it does the job.

I would never stick a needle in a bloated battery..
