Laptop won't charge after spill damage?

My MBP went through some small spill damage, iced tea I think. I tried turning it on but it wouldn't work, I plugged it with the charger and it turned on but theres now an X through the battery symbol. I took it to a genius bar and they said it's not the battery that's the problem (they tried putting a new one in they said) and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what's wrong, or anyplace else I can get it repaired?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Check your battery connector for corrosion. Download and run Coconut battery to get a better idea of its status. http://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutba...

I downloaded the coconut battery application but everything is N/A. When I took it to Apple they said something was damaged not the battery but they didn't specify what, just how much it would cost.

Ana, there's no way to know how much it will cost until you know the extent of the damage. Your best best would be to take it to an independent Mac tech in your area and see if you can get a diagnostic. It sounds like the Apple people you took it to had no idea.

Can you recommend anyone in the Chicagoland area? I really have no idea what I'm doing in regards to electronics.
