When selecting safari or Firefox it takes about one minute or longer for it to open. Selecting links takes much too long. This all started just recently.

There is no PRAM battery for the iBook G4. Just a capacitor to keep the PRAM powered during battery swaps. Your Airport card may be failing. Hook it up via the ethernet port to see if the problem persists. If your speed is restored via ethernet please give us the last three letters of your serial number to correctly identify your machine, part needed and correct procedure for replacement.
If your internet is still slow then look to the modem or call your Internet Service Provider - ISP.
