What do I need to replace for my phone screen to work again?

I recently dropped my phone and the screen cracked near the bottom. Its not big but has caused my screen to go black. I do know that the touch still works because i can feel my phone vibrate after doing the finger print scanner to unlock my screen and then i cant still feel it register the fact that i press the menu and back button. Can I just replace the glass itself or is there anything else i would need to replace with it?

The glass only replacement is only for S5's that have only the glass cracked, still displays fine and touch screen working.

In your case you will need to replace the whole screen assembly (LCD + Glass together) as @lpfaff1 said below.

Unfortunately Samsung LCD's are pretty fragile and the LCD tends to die completely compared to iPhones which usually the glass only gets broken. In some cases you even get the case of the glass not cracked but LCD no display no signs of physical damage on screen.

Anyway TL:DR if display dies after drop and phone is still on, screen assembly replacement is needed.

@linalielunai, Renee, Since the screen is black the LCD is probably bad, you will want to replace the LCD Screen and Digitizer(screen assy.) and then will be able to power on the phone and see if there are any other issues to address. Below the 1st link is a disassembly guide for display replacement and you can also check for any other damage/loose wires/ components/etc.. 2nd link you may be able to find a replacement display assy. for your S5 or perhaps do a search yourself.
