Device restarting on its own
Hi
I have a Samsung Galaxy s6 edge which I bought used and abused as defective.
There was physical damage all over it so i tried to swap the motherboard to another phone. The phone boots nicely but a short period after logging in it restarts and so on...
Did a factory reset and cleared cache - no change.
It looks as something is overheating - are those metal shields used as heatsinks too?
Any Ideas?
Is this a good question?
Somewhat. Like you said something might be shorting on the board. No idea what it would be though. Have you test all functionality of the phone including rear, front camera, wifi gps, sim card 3g 4g and etc?
I'd also check the IMEI and if there's an network lock on the phone.

A few times it managed to stay on for a minute or so...so I tried most of the *#0*# diagnostic menu, even managed to make a call that went on for a second or two before restarting again....

I'm going with bad chip / IC on logic board which ends up probably not worth the time and money to go through.
Or it could be as simple as a bad battery. Does it do this while it's plugged in charging as well?
Also I'd try unplugging removable components and go barebones to see if the issue still occurs (of course keep the screen plugged in)

Yes it does the same thing when plugged in...
