Suzy Cory, Try another known working outlet. If no go, more then likely has a one year warranty on hair dryer and you may want to consider contacting the manufacturer for repair/replacement/refund. If not you could disassemble the hair dryer and test/check all connections, cord/plug, switch, if fused check, with a DVOM to see if faulty. Below is a guide to disassemble various models that may help. If not wanting to work on the dryer yourself perhaps have a good local small electronics shop have a look, diagnose and estimate repair. It is covered under warranty. First try returning it to place of purchase.

If it experienced a reduction of airflow, you might have tripped the safety fuse on the heating element.
