Sound cuts in and out.
My wife's Mac had a wine spill, she took took it to the mac store and was told $600 min. to repair. She bought a new mac. The old mac would not power on so I figured I would replace logic board when prices fell. 9 months later the laptop I was using died so I disassembled (have been electronic tech for years). Only found one trace of the spill on the back side of board, cleaned it and reassembled. Everything worked when I powered back on! I used it for a few weeks and then noticed I had lost the startup chime and had no audio when booted. Tried resetting SMC with intermittent success. I do not see the audio chip in a device list when it fails. I have disassembled and reassembled many times, sometimes regaining audio only to loose it again later. Does anyone know where the chip is on the board or an area I should look at? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Is this a good question?
