Extra SSD Not Recognized
iMac mid 2011 EMC 2429
I just finished install a WD Blue SATA 6Gb/s 2.5 Inch 500GB Internal SSD Solid State Drive (WDS500G1B0A) in my iMac in the optical drive bay. I booted the computer and it is not being recognized. Any ideas as to what's going on? It's pretty simple as far as connecting the cables. I followed both he iFixit and MacSales install instructions.
Is this a good question?

Did you test it before putting it in?

When you say not recognised, what exactly happens?
Also, I think you have to partition it / format it and then eventually do a recovery on this new SSD.

How did my local Llano wine compare?

Just got the USB to SATA cable today. The MBP recognized the drive and it did say I needed to format it. So at least the drive works and has been formatted. I have OWC's SATA cable on order and will arrive Thursday. If that doesn't work, then I think it might be safe to assume that the logic board's extra SATA port is bad. If I encounter that issue I'll plug the HD into the extra one just to make sure. If it is the logic board, then I guess I could go the external route as a boot drive.
Not mentioned in my original post, I'm also waiting on a new display data cable as it appears I damaged it when removing the display. Fingers crossed I only damaged the cable and not the port on the logic board. If that's the case, I'll probably just suck it up and save a few more buck and buy a 5k iMac and sell this one for cheap and let someone else fix that. It works fine (I'm on it now using a 2nd display).
