Burnt ribbon cable on 3ds XL

Hi, I recently bought a faulty 3DS XL in the hope I could repair it. The fault is that when you turn it on, the power light stays on for a couple seconds, then the speakers pop and it turns off. A common problem, usually fixed by replacing the ribbon cable for either the top LCD or the speakers.

I opened it up and took a look at the ribbon cables, and the only thing I could find out of place was that the connector for the ribbon cable for the top LCD is half-blackened, as is its port on the mobo.

So I'm guessing it shorted, but my question is this: is it worth it to buy a replacement LCD and swap them out, or would such a short have damaged the mobo as well?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Clean the connector with isopropyl alcohol and check for water damage? Was it water damaged? I don't think it would just get blacked and burnt all by itself.

No visible water damage, not sure what it could've been. Ordered a new LCD anyway, fingers crossed.
