Phone gets hot where screen connects to motherboard

Hi,

The phone is an Iphone 5 and was in a apple logo boot loop, after some reading i ordered a battery from ebay and installed. The area on the motherboard under the rear camera where the screen connectors go gets hot within a few seconds of connecting the new battery. It will boot up and run fine but the phone gets very hot. I did some testing with the screen disconnected and battery connected its hot, disconnected the other connectors at the top of the motherboard and still hot.

Could this be the battery is faulty? or is the motherboard on its way out? The old battery won't boot the phone at all but plugged into the usb charger or pc will go into a boot loop or restore screen. It does not get hot with original battery installed.

Should I bother trying another battery or is this phone toast?

Unplug front camera cable and rear camera cable and see if it still heats up at that spot.

If it doesn't after then it should be either one of those cameras at fault. Plug one in back at a time to test.

Make sure to unplug battery prior to replugging screen cables.

Thanks for the reply, I'll unplug the rear camera as well. It's heating up with the screen disconnected as well so I don't have to reconnect it for this test. Thanks for the tip and I'll follow up if it works or not.
