Punctured Battery? Please help.

I was messing around inside my old iPhone 4s and decided to try to take the battery out. When I tried to, I pinched the skin on the battery. Is the phone still safe to use?

Do you smell something weird from the battery? If not then it should be okay to use.

@benjamen50 no battery acid in lithium-ion batteries. They are alkaline....
