Why do I get a prohibitory sign?
I have been able to work my way out of a prohibitory sign on start up before but nothing is working this time. I'd like to know if it's worth fixing or if I should by a new PC. I bought this mac refurbished.
Update (02/27/2017)
I called Apple support and they had me hold down some buttons to reset the NVRAM (I don't know what that is) and it didn't work. They also said they wouldn't work on it since it's obsolete. I think I'll call around to some repair places to see if I can get some quotes. I don't have a lot to spend.
Oh, and I'm pretty sure I was running OS-X
Is this a good question?

Is that just the circle with the bat through it?

@melanielynn - Can you tell us what happened just before your system died. Where you updating the OS or doing anything special?
