Burning smell coming from hardware?

Hello, I have removed the display from the mac and unplugged from system, due to the backlight no longer working. Then when I plug it back in and power on the display the screen works but the backlight doesn't turn on and the casing smells like it's burning. Almost like when a capacitor continues to burn in a TV.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Keep the computer off and return it for repair. If you are local to an apple store, bring it in there.

Keep in mind that something as simple as a hair that fell on a heating coil and closed within your computer could produce this... or it could be a warning of imminent fire.

Problems with your magsafe and excessive heat or burning smells should prompt you to be sure to keep the device off.
