Replaced the inverter - half the screen is recovered.

Solved my self. Still going to leave the question anyway. Basically, after changing the inverter and lcd screen, everything is back to normal.

Thanks ifixit. Without this I wouldn't have done it.

Thanks

Hello,

Simply put, this was the problem:

Inbuilt monitor - Right half is completely black, while the left half is extremely dim. I could see the desktop on the left half with a flash light aimed at it.

External monitor: When connected to external monitor, it works very fine.

After reading so many forums on what caused my display go black, I realized that the first thing I should change is inverter. I got the inverter in the mail today and replaced it (thanks to ifixit.com - kudos guys! - awesome instructions). As I expected, the left half of the screen (which was visible before changing the inverter when I used flash light) became bright. The right half (which was not visible at all earlier i.e., before changing the inverter) is still completely dark.

The funny thing is what I am seeing on the left half is supposed to be on the right side. By this, i mean the clock, the finder and other things that are supposed to be on the right end of the screen start at the middle and I don't see the dock at all.

Basically, the computer is operating as if the right half is not even there and it places all the clock, finder and other things at the center of the screen.

Kind of hard to explain. Can anyone help me with this issue?

Thanks

Mani

Update

Sorry? Come on! Your intent to help is most welcome.

And, actually, in my case I needed both inverter and LCD screen. Inverter brought the "light" and LCD brought the "data".

Thanks for the help.
