Bottom of screen not working

I've changed the screen on my iPad 3 and put a tiny crack in the new one when doing so. If you take the screen out and flip it over, the crack runs through the tiny silver coloured lines running around the edge of the screen just above the home button. Is this why the bottom of my screen will not work now? Or do they have nothing to do with it? I've tried to clean out the terminals where the tape connects in but that hasn't done anything.

It's literally the bottom half inch that doesn't work.

All help is much appreciated

Thanks

Dru

If the crack is on the digitizer layer and not the black glass then yes you will need to replace the digitizer again.

Hi,

Yes, this damage will cause the touch to stop working, or if you have damaged the cable by crushing it etc.

Get a replacement digitiser, and make sure none of the corners or side walls are dented, otherwise your new digitiser will always crack, due to the fact it doesn't fit correctly. :-)

That's what it is!! The case is dented from where it has been dropped. I think I need to bend it out a little more in order for the screen to fit correctly. That must have caused the crack when I was replacing it.

Thanks a lot, really helpful!!
