iPhone 5 speaker not working after screen replacement

i repaired the screen on my iphone 5 myself and once it was installed the speaker sound was distorted. So i replaced the speaker with a new one but now there is no sound at all, whether i play music or get a phone call. The phone only vibrates. If i use headphones, the sound comes through. Any ideas what has caused this? and if it is repairable?

Thanks!

Did you use gloves during the repair because the oil on your fingers on those gold connections can cause you some problems. Clean all the connector or gold parts with some alcohol, and put bad together. Also the iPhone 5 speakers are a little tricky you have to make sure that metal connected correctly so the metal points on your cable are touching the correct location of your speaker

The gold contacts on the Lightning dock

You mean the metal connectors on the underside of the speaker? And the contact points that are, i believe, on the logic board?

Which cable has connector points for the speaker?

I didnt wear gloves

I'm not sure which speaker is being talked about because there are two speakers one is the earpiece speaker which is right at the top of the screen and the loudspeaker which is at the bottom right of the phone.

The earpiece speaker has gold connector springs which connect to some gold round connection points on the front camera ribbon / flex cable assembly.

And if the loudspeaker does not work then it may be that the charging port cable was ripped but this only happens if the charging port assembly was pried out.

Its the loudspeaker. I pulled it out again yesterday and cleaned the connectors but it still doesnt work...

Havent removed the charging port either :/

I say try another loud speaker as you said the original one became distorted then you tried an replacement one and that did not work at all which I think means bad replacement part.
