Will MBP15 run without LED installed using xternal monitor?

I have a MBP 15 a1226. Had a cracked screen that I've taken out. Can I run it with an external monitor? I have an apple cinema display I'd like to use. I've had the motherboard out and cleaned everything up. How much do I need to reassemble? I have the whole bottom tray section pretty much done (except bezel) but don't want to leave any open loops etc.

I should think it would work just fine. Leave the connections to the LCD unconnected. You will I think lose airport and bluetooth I think because their antennas at least are in that part of the laptop. I would think the simple test would be to assemble the unit without the LCD and see if it runs. Good luck.
