disabled apple iPhone 5s

Greetings. I am new to this cellphone repair business. It is a hobby I took on to supplement my retirement pension income. One reason was because I took my iPhone 4s in to a repair tech 4 times for a mic repair. After 4 attempts at the repair, they finally told me the parts were out of stock. As I had the opportunity to watch the repair process, I decided to order parts from eBay and do my own repair. FYI, I am a very proficient diy person so I felt confident in my ability to do this repair. Successfully. Here is my question. My neighbour gave me his iPhone 5s to look at. His grandson tried to use it and screwed up the password. Now it is disabled and suggests trying again in 24 million minutes. Is this repairable? My neighbour is not the original owner of the iPhone. eBay purchase. It worked well when he first bought it. Any and all suggestions appreciated. Best regards, Lorne.

Greetings. This forum is starting to get interesting. If I can solve this problem. next I am going to try a water damaged 5S. Anyway, there is no backup for this problem iphone and by now the owner thinks he has forgotten the original password because her never wrote it down. Just my luck. Well, you know the old saying " if it was easy, anyone could do it." No guts, no glory. I shall persevere, and if this issue cant be solved, I will go on to something else. EBay is full of damaged iphones and I have lots of time. Hopefully, when I become a more efficient tech I can offer repairs that people can afford. Regards, Lorne.

The phone won't boot past the disabled screen. It's locked up solid. iTunes doesn't even recognize it.

Put the iPhone into Recovery mode, Hold the power and home button together for 15 seconds> Release the power button and continue to hold the home button until iTunes logo appears or iTunes detects it. Once your in Recovery Mode you'll need to hit restore. Then iTunes will download the .ipsw for the iPhone and then it will restore

This is the worst scenario for an iPhone being disabled because it requires you to connect the iPhone to a computer to gain access to it again. Hopefully you made a backup recently to that computer, and hopefully you remember the actual passcode for the iPhone, otherwise you’ll have to erase the device and lose all data on it.
