Display is completely unresponsive

After performing the step by step repairs using the iFixit Guide for the replacement of the front panel of my iPhone 5 (using Item# 118000-1 from the order), the phone turns on but the display is completely unresponsive.

In addition to this, there is a white streak effect on the display stemming from any place on which pressure is applied to the display.

Can anyone speculate as to what the problem might be and what the solution is?

Is it possible the part is defective, or perhaps one of the components of the part is defective?

Are there any tests I can perform to troubleshoot and identify the source of the problem?

Is this a known issue?

Its almost certainly a bad screen. The easy way to diagnose it is to put your old screen on and if that works, its a bad screen. You should also take the new screen off (AFTER you disconnect the battery) and clean the connections. Also inspect to make sure none of the connectors are damaged. If they are in good shape and clean and the old display works, you have a bad screen.
