Why are my pictures not appearing on my camera screen?

I was downloading pictures from my camera to my computer, and tried to take a photo of my dog. The photo did not appear on the camera screen after I took it.

Options

Your camera cannot take photos while it is connected to a computer. Next time unplug it before you try and take a picture.
