Olympus SP-320 Troubleshooting

Camera Will Not Turn On Or Turns Off Unexpectedly ¶ 

Even after pressing the power button, the camera will not turn on, or it will turn off without the power button being pressed while in use.

Power is off ¶ 

Press the POWER button until the camera turns on.

Battery power is exhausted or installed incorrectly. ¶ 

Ensure batteries are fully charged and installed correctly, if not, install new batteries. For hep, refer to Olympus SP-320 Battery Replacement

Outside temperature is too cold for batteries to function properly ¶ 

Warm the batteries by putting them in your pocket for several minutes.

Camera is in sleep mode ¶ 

Press the shutter button or press the zoom lever.

Camera is connected to a computer ¶ 

Disconnect camera from computer. Camera will not operate when connected to a computer.

Batteries Die Quickly ¶ 

''The camera is on and functioning, but the battery power drains quickly despite seeming to be fully charged.

Low Quality batteries ¶ 

Use rechargeable batteries, such as CRV3 batteries.

Camera is being used in a cold environment ¶ 

Battery life decreases in cold temperatures. Hold camera in your coat when not in use.

Battery life is not correctly displayed on screen ¶ 

When battery consumption fluctuates the camera may turn off without giving a low battery warning. Insert new batteries. For help, refer to Olympus SP-320 Battery Replacement

No Picture Is Taken When the Shutter Button is Pressed ¶ 

After pressing the shutter button, no photo appears on the LCD screen and no new photos can be found in the camera reel.

Battery power is exhausted ¶ 

Insert new batteries. For help, refer to Olympus SP-320 Battery Replacement

Internal memory or card is full ¶ 

Insert new card. Or, download pictures to a computer then erase them from the camera.

Pictures You Have Taken Do Not Appear on the Monitor ¶ 

After pressing the shutter button, no photo is visible on the LCD monitor screen.

Camera is in the shooting mode ¶ 

Exit shooting mode.

Camera is connected to a computer ¶ 

Disconnect from computer. Camera does not operate when connected to a computer.

No pictures in the internal memory or on the card ¶ 

Begin taking pictures.

Pictures Do Not Appear Saved on Memory Card ¶ 

''Looking through the camera reel, there are no pictures.

Memory card slot may be broken ¶ 

Replace memory card slot.

Flash Not Working ¶ 

The flash does not go off when trying to take pictures in dark environments or to illuminate a scene.

Flash setting is not on ¶ 

Select a flash mode, other than the flash symbol struck through.

Subject is illuminated ¶ 

Select the flash mode that is only the flash symbol, with no other markings.

Camera is recording a movie ¶ 

The flash does not fire in the movie mode. Select a shooting mode other than movie mode.

Super macro mode is set ¶ 

The built-in flash does not fire in the super macro mode. Set the macro mode to OFF.

Panorama mode is set ¶ 

The flash does not fire in the panorama mode. Cancel panorama mode.

Shutter Does Not Close or Retract ¶ 

The shutter will not retract after turning off the camera or switching to a different shooting mode.

Shutter lag or shutter delay may be caused by broken lens ¶ 

Replace lens.
