Where do the steel pins for the display go?

Aloha!

Due to some crazy events, the repair of my 27" iMac Mid 2010, A1312, EMC 2390, iMac 11,3 revealed that I needed additional parts. The new power supply did not fix the black screen - what appeared to be an obviously burned out resistor was not the problem. The video card was. Now, weeks later I want to put it back together, but I am at a loss in regards to where these steel pins belong and why they fell out in the first place. I had bought this iMac (refurbished) from the Apple store and found now out that the graphic card had been replaced in a half fast way. Very sad and I can only wonder WHERE Apple has its defect returns refurbished.

Anyways, the three conical steel pins are kind of self explanatory, but I would like to get them back in the way they should be. I can't believe that they are loose ex factory and one can see something like double sided tape at their bottoms.

The real problem though I have with the cylindrical pin. It actually looks like a tiny battery and the only place I can imagine it goes is next to the iSight module, left of the camera lens. I can see what appears to be contact pins, but need to be sure if the cylindrical flat (battery-like) pin goes in there or not. Small mistakes can have costly consequences, so I decided to ask the iFixit Answers/Ask section.

Thank you very much in advance. It is imperative to get my iMac back working, because I ought to finalize my book and it's on the iMac.

As we say here in Hawai'i:

Mahalo nui loa! (Thank you very much!)

The ones that have a cone top look like the index pins on the frame to align the display assembly (along the left & right edges). I've never seen them pulled off before did your system get a bang?

I've seen one or two come off when the suction cups placed on the glass are not pulled equally. You can see the insert holes to the left and right of the camera in this photo step #3 : https://d3nevzfk7ii3be.cloudfront.net/ig...

The second from the left looks like a magnet.

Thank You, Dan! Due to my frequent travels I bought a fantastic flight case for the iMac. It's from the UK and will take a lot. Now though I realized that they must have thrown the flight case around like morons on my last trip, because the accessories that are packed with it were all in different places. It takes a lot to move a hard drive that is cinched in by dense foam. The case must have been dropped for sure. The weird thing is that there are only two (2) corresponding alignment holes in the frame, but I have three (3) pins. Plus the flat one.

Thank you, mayer! I mentioned in a comment to Dan that I have three conical pins but only two alignment holes. The flat cylindrical pin that looks like a tiny battery is not magnetic. Just checked that out. The problem is also related to the fact that there are no exploded views available like in the old days with the Quadra. You can get exploded views for any drill, sander, or kitchen appliance - it is shameful that Apple is not providing this important feature.

Alright. The conical pins are rather easy. I didn't look at the glass frame. One can see where they go. But the little flat one still leaves me at a loss.

That may be a pin with the top broken off. Take a look at the remaining pins in your display and see if there are any others that look like it, it may also be a lower pin. Sorry I do not have a 27" intact in front of me.
