SSD Not Recognized in Disk Utility

Hello,

I would like to install an SSD on my macbook pro 17 of 2011 but when I plug it and I boot on my usb key with EL Captain, it does not detect me the SSD.

Did you check Disk Utility if you are running the installer? (It has to be formatted to work with the macbook and allow an mac OS to install on it.)

Please give us some history of the machine. Were you having any issues before you replaced the hard drive. Also have you have any other issues that might be related to this recall: https://www.apple.com/support/macbookpro...

So actually I had a GPU worry that I repaired myself. There is nothing special about the original HDD. No worries on the machine everything works well.
