Logic Board compatibility upgrade

I have a Mid-2012 MacBook Pro 15" A1286. 2.3GHz Processor. Most of everything works except the USB ports and Optical Drive. I took it a while back to a shop and they told me it had liquid damage on the logic board. I didn't have money then to fix it and it still runs fine. Just can't use the USB ports or Optical drive. Now I'm thinking about upgrading the RAM, it currently only has 4GB and is getting painfully slow. Is it possible to upgrade the logic board to one that has a faster processor? What would be the best way to get one? eBay? Thanks!

Here are the possible logic boards in your series: MacBookPro9,1.

Here's the IFIXIT guide: MacBook Pro 15" Unibody Mid 2012 Logic Board Replacement and here's the part you'll want: MacBook Pro 15" Unibody (Mid 2012) 2.7 GHz Logic Board - 661-6493

Did you click on the first URL link? These are your choices. The logic board I listed here (2.7 GHz) is the premium system logic board is a direct drop in. If you don't want to go that high you can also go with the 2.6 GHz board its P/N 661-6492

I made a small typo in the board description in my answer it's a 2.7 GHz not 2.6 GHz (i've corrected it)
