Mic problems , only on speaker calls, facetime and siri

Hello,

I just replaced the screen on the iphone 6. From that moment the mic for speaker calls, facetime and siri don't work anymore.

The mic is working when using video recordings, messenger.

I know that the voice recorder only uses the lower mic at the bottem and that's working. And some people say that when facetime, siri and video recordings aren't working that there is a problem with the mic. But with me the video recordings are working fine. :s

So what can this be?

Updaten (28-10-16)

An update . The mic is working with siri to . Siri was disabled in the settings. ( this isn't my iphone ) . So everything is working. Except for making a normal call and than turn it on speaker. The person on the other site can't hear what i'm saying when the speaker function is on. When i turn speaker function of the person hear me loud and clear.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Thanks for your answer. Sadly this isn't working. I peeled already the adhesive of the mic to be sure. There are no visible cracks on the ribbon that i can see. The mic was also lined up correctly.

Better to replace it anyway, it's probably damaged.

Hi @gohigher,

Your microphone on your front facing camera was either damaged during the repair, or the hole in the microphone is being blocked by the speaker mesh adhesive. There is a tiny hole in the microphone that needs to line up with a corresponding hole in the adhesive, or else you lose the functionality that you are missing.

The upper and lower microphones are used for different functions based upon what you're doing.

1. Inspect the FFC Ribbon for any nicks or tears.

2. Carefully remove the FFC Ribbon and check the alignment of the holes I described above.

If the FFC Ribbon has been damaged, you can source a replacement here from iFixit.

Cheers!
