As far as I'm concerned there is no way to do that without damaging the parts. I've never heard of anyone doing this.

i tried with a 2g and never bothered with a 3g as i think that apple use the same bonding agent... destroyed the digitiser and then had to buy the replacement anyway.theres a lot of discussion about this in the 4g questions and it would seem that the screen and digitiser are all bought as separates then assembled. this is misleading people into thinking you can separate the digitiser from the glass.

Has anybody a solution? The link you posted is only the disassembling from display. I need one more step for the disassambling from the glass and digitizer.

Yes, I have done it, and it worked FAIRLY well, use a hairdryer to melt the bonding, and make sure its on a medium heat, thes melts the bonding, so you can gently pry it apart.

Done it once and it is a pain in the neck. Use a heat gun or hairdryer and heat the glass for several minutes to loosen the adhesive and start working the glass off. It helps if it is in pieces, but be very careful not to bend the digitizer. If it bends you will have a really hard time to get it back to fit. IF you buy a replacement glass, make sure to get the adhesive strips also. Or you can take rubber cement ,make sure you get some that says it will bond to glass, and place a FEW tiny dots of glue on the top, bottom, and sides to the edge of the backside of the glass. Now, carefully affix the lcd digitizer so that the cable plug ins are exactly how your broken glass/lcd assembly was. PAIN in the neck but good luck to you

You can't. All the people who are talking about the 'glass' and the 'digitizer' are in fact talking about the glass/digitizer unit and the LCD unit.

The glass and digitizer are bonded together just as the two layers of a car windscreen are laminated together. Replacing just the glass is like asking an auto shop to replace just the outer layer of glass on a windscreen, because the inner layer isn't cracked.

Just because somebody on eBay will sell you the glass without the digitizer doesn't mean you can replace it! Ask them for directions; you won't get any. Try to buy just the digitizer without the glass - you can't.

The LCD and digitizer on the iphone 4 and 4s are bonded together, but the glass can be seperated from the digitizer and lcd. The glass is a seperate piece that goes over the LCD/DIGI assembly and yes it CAN be seperated, but it is not easy and usually not worth the time.
