Dropped in water, bootloop, then blank screen, but blue light on

HI I briefly dropped s6 in water, was on, and was working when dried with towel. but then I accidentally pressed power button and it went into bootloop, kept trying to turn on/off, then green lines and general greenness started appearing with loop. tried vol down with power and home button, just home button etc... it is now blank screen, with blue light in top conrer going from light to dark blue. I tried power button again even though I know I probs shoudn't and samsung logo came up again, but then went away and remained blank. Itried holding about radiator for a bit and have put in ziplock bag with rice now overnight. Front cam is foggy. I also took sim card out. I have some photos form a recent trip I haven't backed up yet... do you think I can get them back? I guess I will have to wait and see I guess.. any suggestions?

I also in my frenzy tried connecting briefly to laptop to get photos when bootloop started but abortde quickly, but did not pay attention to corner light when I did that..

Thanks for any help or suggestions!

Hi,

As you know water and electronics and electricity are not a good mix.

The water causes corrosion and provides circuit paths for the electricity which were not in the phone's operating design and could damage the components.

Rice is good to eat but it does nothing to fix the problem of corrosion

First you need to remove the battery as soon as possible from the phone

Then you need to dis-assemble the rest of the phone and clean all the affected parts using Isopropyl Alcohol 90%+ to remove all traces of corrosion and water.

Here is a link that in general, describes the process.

Electronics Water Damage

You will probably have to replace the battery as it is very hard to recover a battery from water damage.

Here is a link to the Ifixit guide that shows how to dis-assemble your phone.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Teardown

As always with electronics, especially surface mounted PCBs be gentle when handling and especially when brushing away the corrosion. You do not want to remove any components from the board.

Hopefully after you have done all this the phone might possibly work correctly again.

If this process seems too daunting, take your phone to a reputable, professional phone repair service and ask for a quote for a repair. If you decide to do this, do it sooner than later.
