screen replacement - home button touch ID not working

I bought an iPhone 6 on craigslist, that needed the screen replaced.

This was my first iPhone 6 screen replacement job ever. Anyways, I know you have to match the home button to the logic board in order for the touch ID to work properly.

So I've moved that over, but when I was moving the silver panel over with the cable that connects the home button to the logic board, it ripped a little, so it doesn't work for touch ID.

I've now replaced 3 silver panels to that, with good cables, and I'm not getting the touch ID to work, even though the home button works fine.

So my question is...

...does the silver panel with the cable that connects the home button to the logic board have to be the original as well?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?
