Why did my iPod freeze

My iPod has been moisturized. I tried unlocking it with the passcode but the buttons wouldn't work. Whenever it says slide to unlock it wouldnt slide. i tried holding the off/wake up buttons but it wouldnt work. Then red lines showed on my screen. I tried charging my phone but it still wouldnt do anything.
