My dryer smells like electrical fire

I stopped the dryer without powering off (I opened the door) shut it again. Pressed power button. Made a weird zapping noise and smelled awful... not like normal fire but electrical fire. Unplugged... sitting here wondering if it's worth fixing.

A loose wire is not a reason to go buying! Unplug it, take the back off and look for where the burned spot is and where it's arcing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_a...

Ya that was my first step I forgot to mention. I took the back off and where the cord goes into the back everything is attached and nothing is burnt. It's almost like it was from the front. My husband said control board but it was such a distinct smell...

!&&* no :-D

when sparks are flying its time to go buying ;-) that thing could be lethal to touch..

and keep in mind that everything you put in that thing is soaked in water.. and what do we know about high voltage and water mixed together..

try have a look on this video.. if the fuse is shorted.. then maybe just try to replace that, and then hopefully the fuse has taking the electric beating from the sparks.. HOW EVER.. there are still a reason to why the sparks are flying, and that is really an error that needs to be found and repaired
