harddrive needs to be cleaned
How can I clean a hard drive completely. I have a sata wd 500g.

I would boot a live linux cd/dvd/usbstick and then from a prompt something like this:
sudo shred -v -n1 -z /dev/sdX
The X above is going to be 'a' most likely if you have only a single hdd. If you have multiple hdd's you better be careful to point this at the correct device.
