Touch Screen phantom touching

Hi,

I am trying to repair a moderately water damaged iPhone. The screen was black and so I replaced it, but getting the replacement screen in was difficult as the housing was bent. It was fine until a few days later, when it started phantom touching and became unusable. I had the screen repaired professionally, however after 5 days the problem started again. It is fine after a few hours of rest, but within 10-20 minutes will start again.

How can I fix this? Thanks for your help in advance.

Thanks, Ralph.

The ghost (phantom) touching may be due to the bend in the frame. A screen will always lay flat, but when it is flexed to fit into a bent frame, you could be experiencing touch issues. If possible, try relieving some of the pressure on the screen by taking out the bottom screws and opening the device. Try stress testing it (actively use the device for a period of time to see if the problem will mimic itself. If it does not then it is because of the frame.

If it still experiences the same problems then it is due to the water damage. Try opening the device and cleaning the connectors inside the phone.
