Screen isn't lighting up but I can still hear keys being touched

My phone screen is black, like it is shut off. It was at 20% so I plugged it into the charger. After about an hour I went back to grab it. The screen was off so I thought maybe it was dead. However, I could hear the keys on my screen being touched once I touched the screen (while it was still black). Any ideas on how to fix this or is it shot?

Options

Shine the phone up to a bright light and see if you see a faint image. If you do, your backlights are faulty.

If not, replace the LCD and see if it works then.
